About Microsoft Authenticator

Microsoft Authenticator is a free app that helps protect your SMU account with multi-factor authentication (MFA). After signing in with your password, the app adds a second layer of security by sending an approval notification to your mobile device.
You can also use it for passwordless sign-in, which lets you sign in with just your phone and a fingerprint, face scan, or PIN. No password needed.

​​​​​​Microsoft no longer supports Authenticator versions that are more than one year old. Always keep your device up to date.

Microsoft Authenticator currently works on:

• iOS 16 or later
• Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later

Please note: Microsoft Authenticator is not available for authentication on any smartwatch.
